  • The Enneagram in business

Is the Enneagram suitable for use in business?

Yes, it can be very helpful indeed for members of a team to explore what is behind behaviour that can seem random at best, deliberately infuriating at worst.

Why does this person seem to seek out confrontation? Or that one skip from project to project with great enthusiasm, rarely finishing anything and never displaying any guilt over the fact? And why does the most caring member of the team sometimes make you feel uncomfortable, when all they are trying to do is help?

Once you know what is going on below the surface, the Enneagram can be a big help in promoting smoother and more productive relationships, letting some of the steam out of even high pressure working environments. Stress is much worse when people don’t understand what’s going on, and all businesses pay at least lip service to improving communication. Enneagram work gives teams a language of mutual understanding.

Working with business has a different emphasis from the Enneagram work we do with individuals at Turvey who are looking at their whole lives, and is delivered by me alone. The Enneagram in business courses are explicitly team-based and look first at understanding yourself as part of the team, then the others on your team, then working together on solutions (or ‘how to get along’ without the jargon). I can tailor Enneagram teaching in a modular way to suit the needs of your team, either at your premises or at a convenient external venue. Please contact me if you would like to discuss the possibilities.
