Yesterday I heard about the 365-day self-portrait challenge and joined the Flickr 365 days pool. Pretty self-explanatory: you take one self-portrait every day for a year. You can jump in and start any time. Ideal for narcissists like me.
The photo above is my second entry and I call it Channelling Anna Wintour after the redoubtable editor of Vogue.
Of course I’m not as thin, nor as stylish nor, presumably, as rich. But for a brief shining moment as I looked into the mirror on my return from the hairdresser (I can never get my hair that smooth myself), a glimpse of Anna looked back at me.
Pop on the sunglasses, a quick application of a satin steel filter in Photoshop and there we are, twins. Kinda.
If anyone reading this is in the 365 Days Flickr group, let me know.

On the subject of image, check out Steve Marshall’s blog Photo-Dialogue, in which he explains how he uses photography in his coaching and other work. I liked his recent Crazy Red Bus. And this photo at Accept All Offerings could have been me in my childhood. Made me very nostalgic. (It’s a big birthday over at Accept All Offerings today, why not visit and say hello?)

Wow…Tess, that is uncanny… Anna Wintour eat your heart out! Many thanks for the link to crazy red buses
I’ve been out shooting a few more absurdly ludicrous blurry red buses and will post another one next week in your honour!
a remarkable likeness – very clever
don’t feel bad – i don’t think any of us ever get out hair to look like the hairdresser does
mr x tells me it’s all to do with angles
we cant’ stand behind ourselves like they do
It might do Anne Wintour some good to channel you
Thank you, friends. Anna and I are going to go out on the town together soon and see if anyone can tell us apart…
I agree with Claire. 365 portraits — the nerve to do it is almost selfless.
this is so cool! the resemblance is quite striking. your bravery is amazing. i realize, i am entirely too vain to even begin to attempt 365 days of me! bravo, anne…oops, i mean, tess.
Wow, the likeness is amazing….only you are better looking! Belated birthday wishes!!!!!!
