Many thanks to the wonderful Sally Lever for passing on to me the Kreativ blogger award. I really appreciate it.
Celebrating human creativity seems to me a very fine way of commemorating today’s anniversary.
So now I have to do some work (fun!) in recognition of this award:
List seven things I love
- The serendipitous connections the internet allows us, and the glorious, unexpected rabbit holes a bit of browsing allows us to tumble down
- Really dark bitter chocolate. Click here for a link to some suppliers of organic chocolate in the UK
- Paris, je t’aime
- Books – I cannot imagine life without reading
- Poetry
- Carolyn Hillyer‘s music and words
- Fantasy – I am a Buffy geek and have watched the extended DVDs of Lord of the Rings plus all the special features about ten times. I love Ursula leGuin’s Earthsea books. I could go on…

Sally is a coach specialising in sustainable living and she lives what she teaches. Her site is well worth exploring, and you can sign up for her free monthly newsletter, Fruitful, here.
Pass on the award to seven blogs
This is the really, really difficult bit. How to choose from all the great blogs I read. For a start, let’s take it as read that “creative” (or should I say “kreativ”?) is about living and writing in a creative way, not only about forms of creative expression.
Actually that makes it more difficult because the field is wider. But let’s take a deep breath, in the sure knowledge I’m going to offend someone by omission. In alphabetical order:
- Abbey of the Arts – Christine’s blog is a fusion of words and images that take me on various journeys of the heart.
- Blisschick – this Christine lives up to her blog’s strapline “be brave, choose bliss”, and she’s so encouraging.
- Diamonds in the Sky with Lucy – Kayce lives a creative life in every sense of the word, she’s just embarking on new and exciting adventures, and it’s her birthday today! She’s been awarded the Kreativ blogger before, but that won’t stop me.
- The Hermitage – Rima is one of the most talented artists and story tellers I can imagine. Her work is simply extraordinary.
- Jamie Ridler Studios – if all Jamie did was host Wishcasting Wednesday and the monthly full moon dreamboards this would still be a great site, but she does much more.
- Magpie Girl – Rachelle struggles with debilitating illness and still manages to live and write more fully and originally than most people.
- Suzie the Foodie – Suzie was the original creator of the full moon dreamboards and now writes about her creative passion for food. She is someone else who lives bravely and creatively with poor health always in the background.
All these blogs (and more) are in my “Everyday” folder on Google Reader. I love them.
Comment on each blog to let them know they’ve been chosen
Off I go…

Tess! Thank you! And OF COURSE I will play…as soon as I feel human again.
stupid sickness!
You ARE kreativ, and inspiring. Congratulations!
YEAH, Tess! Bravo!
Thank you so much and congratulations on achieving the award, you deserve it!
Tess, thank you so much for the honor and lovely words. I am really grateful!
Thank you all, lovely people!
Aww….Thanks so much Miss Tess!
A great list, Tess. Three are familiar to me (yes, I agree with the award) and the other 4, well I’ll definitely check them out based on your recommendation. Sally Lever’s site is new to me, too, so I’ll be exploring it. Thank goodness I’m on vacation — more time for reading.
As for your list of 7 things you love — not too many surprises here, which goes to show I’ve been reading you for a while. OK, #6 & #7 are news to me. You have such varied interests! But that’s not a surprise either.
you do live the kreativ life tess
i’m with you on 1-5, looks like 6 would be up my alley too, but will have to find clip files my pc will open, you can have 7 to yourself [my sensitive soul can't handle that scary stuff]
now i’m off to look at sally’s sustainablility site …
Thanks guys, yes I’ve loved fantasy books since I picked up my first fairy tale. The DVDs and movies are a more recently acquired taste. For years I thought Buffy was just some rubbish for teenagers – no longer!
Remember Pyrocantha, the MARMALADE CAT — it connects — this from Alice in Wonderland, falling through the rabbit hole:
“Either the well was very deep, or she fell very slowly, for she had plenty of time as she went down to look about her and to wonder what was going to happen next. First, she tried to look down and make out what she was coming to, but it was too dark to see anything; then she looked at the sides of the well, and noticed that they were filled with cupboards and book-shelves; here and there she saw maps and pictures hung upon pegs. She took down a jar from one of the shelves as she passed; it was labelled `ORANGE MARMALADE’, but to her great disappointment it way empty: she did not like to drop the jar for fear of killing somebody, so managed to put it into one of the cupboards as she fell past it. “
thank you thank you thank you…”creative in every sense of the word.” oh my, i can feel a major block coming on now
kigen, thank you so much for this quote from alice, which I’d forgotten. I think I’ll read her again soon. I love the last bit about not dropping the jar – it seems simultaneously kindly and mad. By the way, one of my favourite old songs is White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane (Grace Slick’s voice was transcendent!).
lucy, you will never be a “blockhead”.
