Amen, sistah! Jubilation, indeed! If only the greedy have left some money in the coffers for President-elect Obama to work with. I agree with a comedian here (David Letterman) who last night wondered if Mr. Obama might start early – like Tuesday!!!!! I say yes!!

I think I heard the world breath a sigh of relief!

Barbara, ironically one of the first newspaper features in the UK, I think on the 6th, was a computer representation of how he will age over eight years, based on a rather ravaged “after” shot of Tony Blair compared with his baby-faced “before” picture.
I can’t begin to imagine the pressure of Obama’s role, but I agree, he does appear to have a calm and determined air.

So far I like the calm, measured, but very determined pace of Obama. I do hope he gets some rest, though.

Lizabeth, welcome to this space and thanks for your comment. You make a good point about space for mourning. I thought that McCain’s concession speech was heartfelt and one of the best he’d made. Perhaps in a small way that will begin to make space.

Thanks Epiphany Girl. I wanted to mark this amazing day, even though I’m not American. It’s a universal sense of joy. No doubt his honeymoon will be short before the naysayers begin carping, but I remain hopeful. I’ve very rarely trusted a politician before, but I trust Obama. Perhaps that’s naive, I don’t know.
