It was poetry party day at Abbey of the Arts yesterday – the Autumnal Equinox Edition. Christine invites us to contribute a reflection on the beauty of the fall. I hope you’ll go over and add your contribution if you haven’t already. Here’s mine:
The gate to the next path
on the yearly journey
stands wide and welcoming.Lit softly, smothered
with crisp bright garlands.
The golden dark laneinvites me through richness
toward the bare, drifting
bone-deep beauty to come.

Tess, thanks for this jewel, I especially love those last two lines. Blessings, Christine
Thank you for the beautiful poetry. I mourn the summer as it passes, the flowers are the most beautiful right before they freeze and die. I mourn but still when that crisp coldness finds the tip of my nose I find it invigorating and special, a reason to breathe deeply and feel the change in my body from the “different” season being ingested.
Thank you both. SS: yes, that feeling on the tip of the nose – lovely!
wonderful poem, tess. this line in particular hangs on my soul. thank you for this beautiful & inviting glimpse at the new season.
“the bare, drifting
bone-deep beauty to come.”
