Tomorrow is September’s full moon – the Harvest Moon. You know, I’m sure, that the Harvest Moon is special. Due to the earth’s seasonal tilt, moonrise looks redder, and the moon appears larger and lower in the sky than usual. She gives light enough for farmers taking in the last of the harvest to work late into the night.
This month for the first time I’m taking part in Sacred Suzie’s dreamboard exercise. (For last month’s collection, click here.)
The idea is simple: use a combination of words and images to represent one of your dreams visually, in time for the month’s full moon. Suzie collects them and publishes them all on her blog. I think it’s such a great idea, and I love seeing all the different dreams and approaches to representing them. Remember that the two words image and imagination are connected.
I’ve always had a dream of me pottering about in a romantic cottage, tending my herbs and vegetables, making herbal remedies.
In Celtic and Pagan belief, we are moving to a time when the veil between the worlds thins as we move deeper into autumn and prepare for the winter to come. These images and words seemed to speak to me of that. Click on the image to see it larger, in a new window.
May the harvest moon shine down on all of our dreams tomorrow.

What a wonderful dream! So gloriously magickal and beautiful an idea, perfect for a dreamboard. I love it and hope so much that this harvest magick comes through for you.
I love this time of year too so very much!
I’m so glad you participated, I absolutely am in love with your dreamboard.
It seems to me that there is great wisdom in the orientation toward the natural world displayed by many indigenous traditions. Within my experience of Christianity, I’ve found that monastic life also participates strongly in this orientation.
@Suzie – thank you, I share your love of this time of year. It is so very special.
@Paul – good to see you here again. I think you’re right about monastic life probably because the life is rhythmic in essence, and although it isn’t always the case now, many monastic communities live/d so close to the land.
Tess, I love your dreamboard and wish your every hope to come true. This is my favorite time of year, the entire autumn season and that wondrous experience of standing at the veil peering over to the other side.
Thank you Christine, my fellow hot weather hater!!
oh, i am so sad to have missed the opportunity for dreamboard this time. maybe next time
thank you for connecting the two words “image and imagination” for me…sometimes i seem to miss the simplest things. glad to have others like you around to help me see!!!
