And so we reach the summer solstice, when the hours of daylight are at their longest, and the Sun King reigns. From this point onwards, the days begin to get shorter, almost imperceptibly at first.
Here’s a video I’ve created, linking images and music in celebration of this point of light in the year’s wheel.
Midsummer blessings to you all.

Gorgeous Tess, thank you! Last year on the Solstice I had the privilege of going to a stone circle near the village of Kenmare in Ireland where there were surprisingly few other people.
Oh, Tess,
These pictures are lovely and the music is perfect.
Midsummer greetings and thanks to you!

Alas, around here we have had only cloudy skies and showers for the whole week. It hardly seems midsummer-like. Your video opened up the skies and brought back the sun. Lovely video!

Thank you all. Yes, I think that I’m going to be watching the video a lot because it is, as we Brits say, pissing it down here!
lovely, tess. i am not sure what i think of all of these reminders that the days will now start getting shorter again when it seems like we have had so very few true “summer” days.
at least now, i will have this beautiful video as a reminder of summer joy–as a supplement, of course, for all of the fabulous days to come
! hope you get some dry skies soon!!!
Well Lucy, as to the days getting shorter, you know Christine and I perversely wallow in autumn and winter
Hello, Tess. Thank you for this midsummer gift. Last night I finally caught up on my blog-reading after spending most of the first weekend outdoors. Finally, seasonally-appropriate weather.
I will replay this video everytime I need to escape from summer in the city. Lovely, lovely images. And perfect music.
