You know you’re a nerdy bookworm when…
By Tess | April 30, 2008
…you hear that your local library is implementing an upgraded computer system that will allow full online management of your account including searching, reservations and renewals, and you get all excited and tell people about it!
My colleague’s glazed look and ill-disguised attempts to leave the room were the biggest clues that not everyone shares my enthusiasms.

Is there room for one more in the nerdy bookworm admiration society?

Well I am definitely a nerdy bookworm. I can search all the local libraries, and sometimes I drive quite a distance because I’ve found a book I’m looking for!
I think you’re in good company Tess! More power to you!

Was it Groucho Marx who said he never wanted to belong to a club that would have him? Well rubbish, I think we have a good little club going here! And SS, your comment made me laugh out loud.

Oh how I love this feature and use it so much that when I go to the library now they ask me if I have holds. LOL.

It sounds like wonderful system! I’ll have to ask at our local library if anything like that is in the making. Our new building is just a few years old, and we retired the debt on it this weekend with our production of H.M.S. Pinafore! (My husband played Sir Joseph perfectly.)

Oh my goodness, what a great club forming! I absolutely adore the Seattle Public Library System for this very reason. I can look up holdings online from the comfort of my own home, then order a title from another branch to be delivered to my local one, and then I get an email letting me know its ready.

Christine, Stop it; you’re making me want to move to Seattle, and these days it doesn’t take much….

Groucho Marx also said that, outside of a dog, a book is man’s best friend; inside of a dog, it is too dark to read.

I’m glad this club is growing so nicely!
HM: Well why not, then I could visit you, Lucy and Christine all at once.
Barbara: I hadn’t heard this one - hilarious. I bet you’d be a great person to have on a quiz team.

H.M., there are a million more reasons you might want to move to Seattle, the library is just the icing on the cake.
The Marx quote is very funny!
