Moonlit growth

April moon

Tonight is the full moon of April, called the Seed Moon.

I like to think of the seasonal growth this moon brings us as a kind of opening. On my windowsill today, tiny seedlings of basil and parsley are opening their leaves, stretching and wriggling up out of their soil towards the sky.

If we open our arms and stretch up towards the moon in the darkness of the night sky, perhaps we too can feel the growth we are called to from our seed state.

The sky was lit
by the splendour of the moon
So powerful
I fell to the ground

This might be my favourite moon (or at least full moon name) of the year. I’m now motivated to push on and sow some more seeds. Some in the garden … but you’ve also reminded me to think about inner growth, which I neglect when I get busy with home, garden and work tasks. Thank you.

I think this post also fits into the category of “Green Thumb Sunday” :-)

Lovely poem. Thank you for a simple but meaningful post.

Thank you both for these comments. There’s something about a full moon…

That’s exactly how I felt last night when the full moon peeked out from behind the heavy cloud cover. It was so bright it lit up the entire sky!
