Thank you all for your support following my brother’s death a few days ago, it’s hugely appreciated.
No doubt I’ll be writing more about that soon, but for now, I’d like you to join me in doing something tomorrow evening, Saturday March 29th. It’s Earth Hour between 20:00 and 21:00 local time. People all over the world are switching off their lights for one hour in a symbolic and practical stand against global warming.
So go on, plunge yourselves into darkness, sign up for Earth Hour. And in doing so, give a birthday present to one of my favourite bloggers, Mel Rimmer, who introduced me to Earth Hour, and whose birthday happens to be tomorrow.
Here’s a video explaining how Earth Hour started last year in Sydney.

I’ll be “off” with you although our times won’t be synchronized.

Thanks for blogging about Earth Hour. I didn’t know it was such a big thing. We’ll turn off our lights before we leave to go to a friend’s home for dinner. Maybe we’ll mention it there, but I don’t know whether they’d be interested in participating or not. Guess it wouldn’t be too cool to just announce, “Okay, lights out. It’s Earth Hour.”

I had a similar situation to Wren’s in that we left for dinner with friends also and leaving our doggies at home along requires some lights on for them….at least we think so. I don’t know if they care or not. In the meantime, ever since I read about EH on your site, I have been much more conscious of the amount of electricity I use in leaving lights on when there’s no reason other than neglectful thought – so I do believe that I’ve lowered our usage quite a bit in the last month. Going to keep working on that.
