Invitation to PoetryIt’s Poetry Party at Abbey of the Arts, Christine’s every-other-Monday delight. Today’s theme is the photograph below from her family history, and the title Reaching Across Time. My poem is below the image. Please join in with yours, over at Abbey of the Arts.

Reaching across time

In which direction
do we reach,
you to me,
or me to you?

Or do our hands
meet briefly
In some space
outside time?

Ooohhh, I love it Tess! Especially the way the reaching happens in both directions and then you offer this image of an alternate space where both meet. Thank you for participating in the Party again!!

Ooooh, my response was exactly like Christine’s. This took my breath away. Lovely!

And I personally agree. I think history or whatever, or space, or generations, are a two-way street, somehow. Maybe. Hopefully? I’d like to think so, anyway.

I really love this!

Thank you all. You know there’s something about old photographs, especially with the people gazing directly into the camera lens, which makes me think they can see me in some way. It’s like a kind of mysterious knowing with a veil between.
