I’ve been suffering with a bad cold the past few days, so I’m afraid my blog writing and reading has suffered along with me.
So this Sunday’s Collection will be light on words. Which may be a relief to all of you!
I’ve noticed several powerful videos surfacing this past couple of weeks (what did we do before YouTube?) and I want to share the four that really struck me.
The first I saw initially at Don’t Eat Alone, then at Towanda’s Window. The compelling voice of Mavis Staples singing “Eyes on the prize” frames raw footage from the struggle for civil rights in the US.
The second I found at Chasing Grace. Inspired by Blake’s poem, this video, Tyger, combines animation, puppetry and digital effects, shaped by a fantastic imagination.
And what shoulder and what art
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand and what dread feet?
Third is an animation by the amazingly talented artist Rima Staines, who blogs at The Hermitage. This eery and beautiful video illustrates Polly Paulusma’s song The Woods. For some reason I can’t link to this video in the normal way so CLICK HERE to view it. Probably best not to let young children watch it…
And finally, found at Hecate, this one is only 19 seconds long, but is oh so right for this time of year.
Have a blessed week, everyone.
