A dear “real-life” friend asked me by email recently if it was OK for people who don’t have their own blogs to comment on other people’s blogs. Of course, it would be so good to hear from you. I think the conversations that take place in the comments space are the best thing about blogging, and you certainly don’t need your own patch of cyberspace to join in.
I’m sure all my friends who do have their own blogs would agree.
Technical notes: on this space, when you click the comments link there will be a space for the URL of your own blog – all you have to do is leave that blank. Most people just put their first name, and if you’re feeling especially shy, just use your initial. You will be asked for your email address, but no-one sees that except me. The first time someone comments I have to approve it, but thereafter it just gets posted automatically. Arrangements are similar on most blogs.
Happy commenting!

You know, I never thought about it before. But I suppose one might be apprehensive about posting a comment without a website of their own. This is a nice gesture to encourage those folks.
