As we say goodbye to 2007, I thank you all for reading and contributing to this blog. I’ve been writing here for nearly a year, and it’s been sheer delight to find so many like-minded friends out there in our virtual community.

I thought you might be interested to see what my stats tell me are my 20 most popular posts during 2007. Some of them are from my Collections, so are a collaborative effort, which makes them extra special:

To sign off from 2007, because I’m partial to a bit of smaltz, here’s the sublime Diana Krall singing What are you doing New Year’s Eve?

I’m going to re-read them all. Thank you for a year of thoughtful posts and images, Tess.

Thanks Elaine, I hope you don’t go cross-eyed reading them!!
And I look forward to reading your blogs in 2008. I hope Edible Balcony Garden will continue once the weather gets warmer. I was browsing photographs today and saw a whole host of beautiful geraniums, which made me think of you.

Thanks for the retrospective. If you notice an Ontario ip surfing madly through your archives, it’s me. ::Waves!::

Happy New Year!

Hey Cat, thanks for stopping by, and thanks for your link to my site as well. Happy new year!

After wallowing in a slump for a while, I feel deliciously envigorated today. Looks like a good New Year is on its way. I wish the best for you in the coming year, Tess. I enjoy dropping in and I look forward to spending some time tomorrow reading your 20 most popular posts.
And Diana Krall is indeed sublime! [borrowed pride that she, Feist and Arcade Fire (for the most part) are Canadian! ;) ]

Thanks Barbara. Yes, some of my favourite musicians are Canadian. Lang, Cohen, Young, Mitchell. After I found that video yesterday, I spent quite some time wallowing in some of DK’s other videos. There’s a fabulous one of her, hubby Elvis Costello and the legendary Willie Nelson together singing Nelson’s “Crazy”. Magic!
Have a very happy New Year. x

Ah, yes, they are wonderful musicians. I listened to and enjoyed the video with the timeless Willie Nelson and Elvis Costello. There’s such a quality in Willie’s voice… Her version of Mitchell’s A Case of You is quite special. Compare it to Mitchell’s own version (and k.d. lang’s, if you can find it).
k.d.lang is my all-time favorite. I play her Hymns of the 49th Parallel dvd over and over. Check out her Juno award rendition of Cohen’s Hallelujah. Barefoot and dressed in a cassock-like style, lang outdid herself. I could listen to it forever. If it doesn’t reduce you to tears, you’ll at least get goosebumps.
