For the last of my Art for Advent ventures, I’ve done another collage. This is a combination of physical paper images combined and mounted on black card and words added in Photoshop. (Calligraphy happens next year…)
I wanted the emphasis that there is only a narrow strip of daylight in the cosmos on this day, and the ponies (they are wild Welsh mountain ponies ) seem to be journeying towards the moon I added in the top left. Those who are of my vintage may remember the words are from the Jethro Tull song Solstice Bells.
Happy Winter Solstice everyone.
I love it Tess, its really beautiful and so evocative. Would make a great holiday card. I also want to learn calligraphy finally. But oh dear, I didn’t realize I was “vintage”!
You’re not as vintage as me dearie! But you know what they say about fine wines…
It would make a good holiday card now you mention it. If I could photograph it without the flash reflecting on the last horse. And it would absolutely infuriate the colleagues I’ve been arguing with all week about the “Happy Christmas” versus “Happy Holidays” debate!! Tempting.
Beautiful!
hey tess…this collage thing has really taken me over so i love to see you doing the same. i am envious of your photoshop talents, that may be on my list for the new year. one little hint re: the flash and all, after playing with christine last week, i discovered the beauties of a scanner…i left her house and went out to buy my own (at not too great a cost). i have been having a blast with my old photos and now scanning in my collages for posts and possibly cards.
i love the term “happy christmas!” (as opposed to the “merry christmas” of the states.) maybe it’s me, but people seem to have been more generous with “merry christmas” this year vs. the more generic “happy holidays”.
nevertheless…i love your collage and wish you the best of ALL holidays!!! x0×0x0×0

Lucy: a scanner, that’s genius! I have one, never thought to use it for this. D’oh!
