Wisdom in strange places

I am a big fan of detective novels. One of my favourites is Kathy Reichs, and her character Tempe Brennan, a forensic anthropologist.

So when I noticed that a TV show, Bones, had been made based on the character, I thought I’d give it a quick watch. Well, nothing to write home about. Not bad but not brilliant. But it so happened that one of the characters in the particular show I watched read out some lines (in a letter from her dead mother) that really struck me:

If I’ve learned anything, it’s that we can never let the chaos and injustice make us so blind with anger that we become part of the problem. Understanding, compassion, kindness and love are the only true revolutionary ideals.

It just shows that you can sometimes find wisdom in strange places.

“Understanding, compassion, kindness and love are the only true revolutionary ideals.”

Amen to that!

We’ve been watching Bones for awhile now, and watched what we missed on DVD — If you watch it consistently, you’ll notice some clever dialogue! I haven’t read the books, but hear that they’re good.

Thanks all, and Pink Shoes, welcome and thanks for your comment. I did watch it again this week actually and rather enjoyed it. It’s growing on me.
