Finding God in the world

Spirituality
is not to be learned
by flight from the world,
by running away from things,
or by turning solitary and going apart from the world.

Rather,
we must learn an inner solitude
wherever or with whomsoever we may be.
We must learn to penetrate things
and find God there.

Perfect words to read this morning as I begin another work week. The image is beautiful, too. Thank you, Tess, for this post. I have changed my practice from random selection to always beginning my morning blog reading with A&M — it’s always right for the moment.

Oh, bless your heart Elaine, thank you! Isn’t the image great – I started with the words, which I found as I was tidying out a file, and then searched for an appropriate image and this really fit the bill. People’s skill in photography amazes me.

Peace Tess,

A beautiful and profound poem. Insha Allah, I’d like to post it at my own blog.

I hope all is well with you and yours.

Thank you Abdur. Yes, please feel free to post it. Eckhart is one of the mystics whose work I most value. This was from a handout for a retreat I attended a few years back looking at his work from both a Buddhist and Christian perspective.

I hope you are feeling better, I was sorry to hear about your illness.
