Break Out Blogger AwardNo, I haven’t got spots, I’ve been awarded the Breakout Blogger Award by Christine at Abbey of the Arts, who thoroughly deserved getting the award in the first place.

I’m very grateful, and best of all I get to choose some other recipients. Christine has already bagged some goodies, and I’ll add these lovely blogs that I so enjoy:

Chai Time. Maya combines warm stories of family life with posts that sometimes challenge and often make me look at things from a different perspective.

Chasing Grace. Because Lisa’s words and pictures are both graceful and interesting. (And because I have a soft spot for Siofra.)

Don’t Eat Alone. Milton combines poetry, lyrics, videos, social conscience and recipes beautifully.

Let it Shine. Anne walks some trails of breathtaking beauty and records them for us with her camera. Her words on peace and on environmental issues are well-worth reading.

Those Northern Skies. Melissa photographs children unbelievably well. She captures the essence of happy childhood. See here, here and here. Stunning! And she writes well. And she does lots of other craft things. I’m not really envious…

I don’t want to leave anyone out – there are many more blogs that I read every day and love. You know who you are – I hope. But I’ll leave it there for today and finish by borrowing a quote Anne uses in Let it Shine, because I think that all the blogs I’ve mentioned, and the others I read, are written with love:

When small things are done with love, it’s not a flawed you or me who does them: it’s love. I have no faith in any political party, left, right, or centrist. I have boundless faith in love. In keeping with this faith, the only spiritually responsible way I know to be a citizen, artist, or activist in these strange times is by giving little or no thought to ‘great things’ such as saving the planet, achieving world peace, or stopping neocon greed. Great things tend to be undoable things. Whereas small things, lovingly done, are always within our reach.
