I don’t know about you, but I tend to be a bit all or nothing.
Save the world? Well I can’t, so I’m not going to bother to try anything. Be a saint? Unlikely, so let’s carry on being comfortable.
I found a lovely little story today at the wonderfully-named Danno’s Dangerous Mind:
A person was walking the beach one morning and noticed a boy bending down, picking something up, and throwing it into the ocean as far as he could. Over and over he did it. As the observer came closer he saw thousands of starfish the tide had brought onto the beach. The tide had receded and they would eventually die, so the boy was throwing them back into the water – one at a time. The man finally says, “Son, there must be thousands of starfish. You’ll never be able to get to all of them. You can’t possibly make a difference.” The boy smiled and continued to pick up another starfish and toss it into the water. “It made a difference for that one,” he replied.
If we have to do it one starfish at a time, I guess that’s how we have to do it. But we do have to do it, no excuses. Whatever ‘it’ is… What is ‘it’ for you?
Danno’s starfish post is interesting in many ways, click here to read it.
By the way, if you’re reading this blog in Internet Explorer and the central column alignment is messed up, please can you let me know what you’re seeing. Thanks.

I’ve always loved that story. It’s a good way to understand the big picture.
By the way, I just checked and your site looks fine in IE6.
Oh how I experience this all the time. Our ministry serves the mentally ill and also trains others to serve out in the community in many ways. When I have four or five mentally ill people attend my Monday Night Healing Prayer it is such a small drop in the bucket when it comes to the huge need in our area. Also, I pray and pray, but the healing and the work done in these people has to be measured with by millimeters and not by miles. But occasionally, the L-rd will encourage me through one of these dear people when they tell me they were feeling hopeless before the meeting and now they feel they can get through another week. There goes another starfish!
