A few days back Christine at Abbey of the Arts taught us about a form of poetry called the French Pantoum. It’s a way of being creative within a framework, and it can lead to surprising results.
It reminds me of a way of prayer writing called acrostic, which I posted about not long after I started this blog.
Anyway, I visited this majestic tree at the weekend, which gave me the words for my own pantoum:
Crowned with restless shivering,
Cracked silver grooves of bark
Enfolding rings of wisdom,
Earth lapping at crooked roots.Cracked silver grooves of bark
Reach, reach, reach, down.
Earth lapping at crooked roots
Stretch, stretch, stretch, up.Reach, reach, reach, down.
Enfolding rings of wisdom
Stretch, stretch, stretch, up.
Crowned with restless shivering.
Oooooh, I love it Tess! I am so delighted the Pantoum provided you with some inspiration.
