Present imperfect

I’m borrowing shamelessly from The Velveteen Rabbi today. She wrote a wonderfully moving post recently about listening to the shofar

In talking about brokenness, she shares some lines by, as she calls him, the great rebbe Leonard Cohen:

Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything
That’s how the light gets in.

Amen.

Those four lines just sent my thoughts in a hundred directions at once. Wow.

Wow! I saw your blog listed on Anita’s links list & bookmarked it awhile back. Today was my first opportunity to sit & read it. I came here to visit feeling joyful. I am leaving feeling joyful AND peaceful. Thank you! This will now be a regular morning visit for me!

i love the image of brokenness as opening space to let more in. it also reminds me of the l’arche community…perfection through brokenness.

i agree with heyjules…my thoughts go a hundred directions at once!
