| You scored as Emergent/Postmodern,You are Emergent/Postmodern in your theology. You feel alienated from older forms of church, you don’t think they connect to modern culture very well. No one knows the whole truth about God, and we have much to learn from each other, and so learning takes place in dialogue. Evangelism should take place in relationships rather than through crusades and altar-calls. People are interested in spirituality and want to ask questions, so the church should help them to do this. |

What’s your theological worldview?

Normally these quizzes are just a bit of fun, but this is quite interesting as I know little about the Emergent Church and what I do I don’t really “get”. Maybe I’ll have to look into it a bit more!
Maya has a good post that mentions emerging church and the background here.
The picture, apparently, is of one Brian McLaren, a new name to me, but you can read an interview with him here at Beliefnet.

I took it. I will try to post it on my blog later today.
Tess–Thanks for the additional information regarding the Emergent Church. I’m going to check out the posts you mention and the Beliefnet interview.
McLaren is a big name in the emergent movement over here (about which I know little but have some friends who do).
Hmm…I took the test and came up the same although I disagree about the “feeling alienated from older forms of church” and how they connect to modern culture. It’s not a very good test for me, I think, because I’m not a very good “either/or” theologian…
tess–i can’t wait to take the quiz. i just finished reading brian mclaren’s “a generous orthodoxy” i suspect you might really enjoy it. i certainly did! people whose opinions i respect highly in terms of “church views” believe he is a solid citizen–so to speak.
Thanks everybody. Interesting that everyone in this list so far who’s posted the results is the same. Either we all think similarly or the voting’s rigged!
I agree with you Towanda on the alienated part. I think it’s a bit too black and white.
