white-rabbit.jpgOne of the great things about this blogging community is the intriguing rabbit holes you tumble down when following links from other blogs.

And yet… I confess to a slight sinking of heart when I find another blog that is well-written, has interesting things to say, and from which I can learn. It’s like browsing Amazon: so many books, so little time!

So below is a collection of wonderful blogs that are not (yet) on my blogroll here, but which I’m getting increasingly pulled into. I make no attempt to recall where I found them, the journey is too convoluted!

33 Names of Grace. Particularly her post explaining the blog’s name, and Which One, exploring the Martha/Mary story.

A Glimpse Into the Life of a Muslimah. The writer is an American Muslim woman writing about her faith and daily life. Yesterday’s post on the position of women in Islam is interesting. I’ve just finished Karen Armstrong’s Muhammad: A Biography of the Prophet, which I highly recommend, and this also points out the quantum change for the better in Islam’s attitude to women from what had gone before. (I’m not naive, I do realise that the interpretation of Quar’anic teaching on women is not exactly liberal across the whole Islamic world.)

God’s Politics is a group blog with, I suspect, a big circulation; I usually prefer to read smaller, more personal blogs. But it’s good stuff, and My Search for the Justice Bra Part I is really interesting. Looking forward to Part II.

Frogs and Ravens – what a great title and header graphic. Her subtitle “Some days we are ravens, other days frogs” reminds me of the Mary Chapin Carpenter song The Bug. I’m particularly enjoying the photo galleries along the left of the blog, for example the close-up of a Toad.

Muslim WakeUp! is a good mix of politics, information and opinion. Read The Most Beautiful Names of God on the Sufi spiritual practice of Dhikr. And this from a couple of years back that I found when searching the archives. It’s another take on the position of women in Islam, and the yearning for the spirituality of salat.

Radical Torah – the source of this one I do remember, I found it at Velveteen Rabbi and have been meaning to explore it for ages. I was so struck by the beauty of The Hope of New Life. Rabbi Rosen talks about renewal in terms of the environment. There is a photograph of a tiny tree seedling growing up through rock. The symbolism has something to say for all of us, regardless of our faith.

The Longer Look reminds us of Ghandi’s Seven Deadly Sins. And take time to watch this song by Pink, featuring the Indigo Girls.

Isn’t it great that so many people put so much effort into creating intelligent, thoughtful posts we can share?

So finally:

We are emerging from terrible flooding in the UK, even though it will be months for many people before their lives and home are back to normal.

The sun is shining today and so to wish you all a happy and peaceful week, here’s the late and very great George Harrison performing at the Concert for Bangladesh in 1971:
