We Londoners like to complain about our transportation, but one of the nice things about travelling on the Underground is that as well as advertisements, they have poetry.
A new collection by African poets has just been launched and one caught my eye this morning.
I thought it was beautiful and tried hard to remember it but could only keep the title and the first few lines:
I sing of change
I sing
of the beauty of Athens
without its slavesOf a world free
of Kings and Queens
But Google and the BBC came to my rescue and you can read the rest of this poem by Niyi Osundare and the words of five other African poets here. There are such riches hidden in that link.

Those were great! Thanks for pointing us the way. What a brilliant idea!
I saw that one on the Underground the other day and was touched by it.
