Half the human race

Two wonderful quotes about women over the past couple of days. One at Onehouse quoting Joss Whedon, and the other at My True Self quoting Dorothy Sayers.

The Sayers quote encapsulates how I am still able to be Christian.

There’s a part of me that wants to stop thinking about what’s going on with my gender in the world and in the church. But I can’t and won’t stop thinking about it.

I’ve been a Joss Whedon fan ever since Buffy the Vampire Slayer days. (We own the whole series.) The irony in his quote really shows what’s wrong with men. We’ve (an historical we, not a personal one) made a name for ourselves at the expense of women. That the church has spent much of its history doing violence against women is horrific. I’m grateful for those Christians who are working hard to show it doesn’t have to stay that way.

Peace,
Milton
